Design Task: Create a poster to promote one city from the list provided. You will create an exciting headline in 6 or less words and create a catchy body copy at around 100-125 words to promote the city in depth. No graphic imagery aside from typographic elements are allowed, but hand edited type is allowed. The typefaces used must be compatible and visually appealing.

Understanding the culture of a location is key to create a poster intended to attract tourists to that place. In this poster design, I wanted to incorporate colors that were reminiscent of the Golden Gate Bridge, a highlight of San Francisco and a key destination when appealing to sightseers - the target of this poster.
By using a simple color palette and intricate design patterns, a balance of simple and complex design was created and helps to draw the eye around the page and attract someone from a distance.

Design Project Finalized December 2023
Experimentation and Colors
This was a poster that was being pushed by my professor to be more creative than linear, something a little more difficult given our collective lack of experience in being more experimental in a classroom setting. I wanted to try pushing a little outside my linear thinking, and went for it right away. I tilted text, made myself think about the interactions and how sizing and type influence one another, all while staying in the color palette I established from the beginning. Not only that, but I wanted to stay true to the city I was promoting, all while trying to think of an audience of tourists ranging from young adult to adult to appeal to.
I found an idea and stuck with it, trying iteration after iteration, changing the colors, playing with the text, everything. Until, eventually, I was able to find my niche in once again retuning to a hand-darn style, tracing over the letters and spending 14 hours putting every ounce of heart and detail into the project, creating what the final product is now.
